How it all started?
Digital Afros was founded in 2015 and officially registered in 2016 after Oshosheni and Mehluli decided to combine their creative skills to create a creative business for Africans by Africans.
We wanted to tell our stories with consideration to our culture, our traditions, morals and values and it was important for us to create a space or environment in which we could thrive and excel and do our best work and create in a way that is authentic and natural to us. And that is how Digital Afros was born.
We are co-based in Windhoek and Harare and are passionate about partnering with emerging young filmmakers to tell multi-faceted and exciting new Africa stories. We are interested in finding new voices and explore genres not necessarily seen a lot emerging from the continent, such as surrealism, fantasy and Afrofuturism. We are passionate about retelling our fables and bring African legends to the big screen.
One of our biggest challenges is infrastructure and resources but our aim is to create an organic workflow that best suits our circumstances and to create films with production value, which are interesting, entertaining and touch, inspire and uplift people.
